Although I already knew the basic history of the Titanic, to my delight, this book provided me with more tidbits of information I previously had not known. Through this historical record, I've discovered in-depth facts that I would not have even considered looking into before, therefore I appreciate this new wealth of information. The ability to have a closer look into the Titanic's past, including details I'd never imagine of learning about is what drew my interest the most when reading this book. Anyone who is interested and curious about the history of the Titanic, as well as it's passengers and crew members, this is one book I'd most definitely recommend reading.Product details

Being fascinated with the Titanic, this is a wonderful book filled with first hand accounts of the disaster that night. Though a bit redundant as, of course, it is all about the same event, its told through the different eyes of the survivors. From begining to end, it held my interest.
If you're interested in the Titanic, this is a good read to remind us of all the details history has forgotten.
I was actually reading it on the flight to go see the Titanic Exhibit in Vegas... it really set the tone for me.
This was full of facts and details, some of which I don't recall having heard of before. I didn't like that it kept mentioning photos which weren't shown.
I looked around for a book that had a lot of information about the Titanic, her passengers, and witness account of the tragic sinking. This book has all of that and so much more. It has details, survivors accounts of the sinking, and even information about each passenger, who was rich and known, on the ship. It tells of a sons account of surviving and the last time he saw his father on the ship.. This book it defiantly the most informational of all of the Titanic books on here. It keeps you hooked if you are just looking for a book to read every now-and-then or if you are a Titanic-fanatic like myself. Great read!
I have a fascination with the Titanic and try to absorb any books on the matter. You get a solid retelling of facts you may have heard before but as a fan any bit more detail is welcome.
This account of the Titanic sinking is big on lists. Culled from News reports of the time, it's interesting to see the way the press and governments responded to the disaster.
The narration describes the sinking. Then, there's an interview with a crew member describing the sinking. Then there's an interview with a passenger describing the sinking. After a while, it becomes unreadable, at least it did for me. If you're interested in the names of every person on the ship, you might feel differently.
Did I mention there are a lot of lists in the book?
There are some interesting technical details in this book, which might make it worth reading for a Titanic enthusiast.
There are numerous contradictions in the book to known established facts. Stokers assaulting people with shovels for a place in the boats? Attempted stabbing of the radio operator for a life belt? Male passengers being shot? The bridge phone not being answered for minutes? Collapsible boats disintegrating immediately?
I'm a good portion through this book, and I'm doubtful it's worth more of my time. It's an old book written in a different time, the price is right, but this is fiction.
This is by far the best book I've read regarding the Titanic sinking. I really enjoyed that each persons story was told by itself, and not thrown into one single story where the best parts are used from each, creating something that is far removed from the truth. Different people remember things in different ways, and the fact that this was kept in mind by the author lends more credibility and humanity to the book. I saw this as more of a story about the people involved than about the ship itself. It seems most books forget about the people, and their versions lack because of it.
The only reason I can't give this book five stars is because the pictures have all been removed, however the captions remain. This caused confusion at times when looking for where the book picks back up after a removed pictures caption. It's not a deal breaker, but it was an annoyance, and I would still recommend this book for the Titanic or shipwreck fans.
